Tom Bell

I was born In Santa Fe, New Mexico in December, 1944. Since I was raised in the high desert country of New Mexico, I developed a life-time love affair with the clean air and big spaces. I graduated Santa Fe High in 1962, Western Electronics Institute 1964. My career has been varied and most rewarding, from radiation detection instrumentation, to a 30 year devotion to aircraft and electronics. I owned and operated my own avionics facility in Broomfield, Co., for several years. In 1992, we sold our home of 17 years and made a career move, for my wife, to the Vail valley. Joining my wife Nancy, I was to start a directional change in my life that has led to my becoming a realtor.

I answered an ad for fly-fishing guide, rafting many of the gold medal rivers of Colorado. I spent two seasons in Alaska guiding and maintaining the lodge facilities for a 5 star guest lodge. This has been a very good change for me. I am now a certified fly-casting instructor for the Federation of Fly Fishers. I am also a certified white water raft guide, licensed pilot, and avid model airplane enthusiast.

The year 1996 brought an opportunity to travel and be a team leader for a large disaster recovery agency. I have worked in Puerto Rico doing FEMA inspections, Chicago doing flood inspections, and spent six years as a regional supervisor for a class action company traveling everywhere from the Mississippi river west including Alaska and Hawaii. Buena Vista is the best of all these places and the one my wife and I have chosen to spend our remaining years. Bev Coggins sold us our home and was inspirational in my becoming a Realtor. Joining her team was a natural fit.

I have been married for 41 plus years to the same great woman. We have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. My wife, Nancy, works as a Special Education teacher for Park County School District in Fairplay. My daughter, Sarah, and her husband, Jesse Mair, also live here, having moved here from California via Colorado Springs. Working in the field of real estate as a realtor is a career choice I wish I had made decades ago. The families I have helped to fulfill their dreams become good friends. I truly enjoy their search for the right spot to live. I enjoy being part of my clients’ journeys.
